What happened
California Employment Development Department WARN records list two permanent delivery-business closures in the Bay Area. OnPoint Logistics LLC listed a September 7, 2026 closure affecting 96 positions at 749 Toland Street in San Francisco. Xpress Delivery LLC listed a September 9 closure affecting 80 positions at its DSJ9 site at 5800 Coliseum Way in Oakland.
The two records total 176 affected positions. The notices were received and processed on July 9 and are classified in Transportation and Warehousing.
Who is affected
The state records identify OnPoint Logistics and Xpress Delivery as the employers. Reporting by the San Francisco Chronicle, based on the notices, described 92 delivery-driver positions and four management positions at OnPoint, plus 75 delivery-associate positions and five management positions at Xpress.
These workers are employees of the two delivery-service businesses, not automatically employees of Amazon. Amazon's Delivery Service Partner program describes participating operators as independent businesses. They also are not the same as Amazon Flex independent contractors.
What it means for drivers
The records show concentrated job displacement in last-mile delivery, but they do not establish a net regional reduction in Amazon delivery routes or prove that every planned separation occurred exactly on the listed date. Replacement contracts, transfers, or later changes were not disclosed in the state workbook.
Affected workers can use California's Rapid Response and America's Job Center services for job-search and training assistance. CDL holders considering delivery work should confirm whether a posting is for a carrier employee, a separate contractor, or independent-contractor work before comparing pay and benefits.
