Which ELDs were removed
FMCSA removed five devices from its registered ELD list on August 6: MOONLIGHT ELD (MRS255), HGRS ELD (HRS169), HIGHEST ELD (HIG385), TRUCKFORD ELD (TRS263) and Sparkle ELD (SPARK6). The agency said the providers failed to meet minimum requirements in Appendix A to Subpart B of Part 395.
The 60-day replacement window ends October 6, 2026. FMCSA's current ELD pages still identify the five devices as revoked as of this report's October 5 check.
What changes on October 6
FMCSA says a carrier that continues using one of the five revoked devices on or after October 6 will be considered to be operating without an ELD. Safety officials should cite 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1), and the driver can be placed out of service under the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance criteria.
Before the deadline, the agency allowed affected users to revert temporarily to paper logs or logging software while replacing the device. That transition guidance does not make a revoked device acceptable after the deadline.
What drivers and fleets should do now
Fleets should verify the ELD name and identifier in every affected truck, move to a device on FMCSA's registered list, train drivers on the replacement and preserve required records through the transition. Drivers should not assume a similarly named product is registered without checking the agency's list.
FMCSA says a provider can regain registered status after correcting all identified deficiencies, but the agency will notify the industry if that occurs. Until then, the current registered and revoked-device lists control.
