What FMCSA reported
FMCSA added a September 15 fraud alert for four websites that the agency says are falsely presenting themselves as official Motus registration portals. The agency says phishing emails using the subject line “Notice of Required Off-Cycle Update- Motus email” have directed recipients to the sites.
The four domains named by FMCSA are dot.motusdatasboard.com, dot.motusdatadesk.com, dot.motuswebdeck.com and dot.motusfunction.com. They are not federal .gov sites. FMCSA identifies https://motus.dot.gov/ as the legitimate Motus address.
What carriers should do
Do not use a link in an unexpected registration email. Open the verified .gov address directly, confirm that the browser shows motus.dot.gov, and avoid entering credentials or payment information on look-alike domains.
FMCSA says suspicious activity can be reported to the Federal Trade Commission or the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center, and users can contact FMCSA through the agency's registration help channels. Carriers should also follow their own incident-response process if anyone entered information on a suspicious site.
What remains unknown
The alert does not provide a victim count, dollar-loss estimate or confirmed number of compromised accounts. It is a fraud warning, not a change to registration rules or a new compliance deadline.
