Which trucks are included

NHTSA campaign 26V619 covers 392 selected 2025–2027 Volvo VNL and 2026–2027 Volvo VNR tractors. Campaign 26V620 covers 850 selected 2026–2027 Mack Anthem and Pioneer tractors. Both populations are limited to vehicles equipped with a tanker application package.

The 1,242-truck total does not mean every tractor in those model years is recalled. NHTSA says affected VINs are scheduled to become searchable October 5, so fleets should verify each tractor rather than relying on the model name or year alone.

The braking risk and free remedy

The agency says inaccurate axle-load calculations can reduce braking performance while an affected tractor is hauling a smoothbore tanker trailer. Reduced braking performance can increase stopping distance and crash risk.

Dealers will install software that disables the dynamic trailer-braking calculations at no charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 27. Volvo identifies its campaign as RVXX2610, and Mack identifies its campaign as SC0500.

What drivers and fleets should do

Tanker fleets should check each tractor through NHTSA's VIN lookup and contact an authorized Volvo or Mack dealer for remedy availability and scheduling. Drivers should follow fleet maintenance instructions and report any braking concern through normal safety procedures.

The current NHTSA records do not carry a do-not-drive or park-outside flag. That is not a substitute for VIN verification, dealer instructions or normal pre-trip and air-brake checks.
